The charming Dionysia de Beaumais conceals more than her face behind a scarf. Despite her pleas for mercy, she is betrothed to a man with whom she shared pleasant conversation at court, and she dreads the inevitable disclosure of a painful past and her most intimate secret. But the giant knight is not what he appears, and he wins her heart. When an old enemy resurfaces, threatening her newfound happiness, Dionysia risks everything to save Aristide.

Reconciled to an arranged marriage, Nautionnier Knight Aristide de Laurentiis takes matters into his own hands and expresses interest in a mysterious but modest lady blessed with sharp intellect and wit, and His Majesty obliges the one-time Templar. When Aristide discovers the cruel truth his gentle wife hides behind her veil, his insatiable lust for revenge threatens to destroy them. Can love conquer evil and heal old wounds?

Aristide Brethren Origins Book 3 edition by Barbara Devlin Literature Fiction eBooks

I read all the Brethren of the Coast series, and the first two books of this series. The theme is the same, just the names have been changed.

I did enjoy both the H/h in this story and your heart will ache for the h and what she went through before she met our H and then something happens that I just cringed.

I had two problems with this book. One why did they wait so long to consummate their marriage when they both desired each other - didn't ring true. I realize that most of the men are virgins when they marry, but if your married and desire your partner why are you putting it off?

Spoiler: The other thing that bothered me, our h is forced to do a certain act. Now, I believe that would put her off to repeating it, even with her husband. I think she would be reliving the awful experience, I don't care how strong you are. End of spoiler.

I hope the people who gave 1 star because of a problem with Amazon, would revise there score, as that is not the fault of the author. An author should only be scored on their work, not something that is out of their control.

There are a few editing errors, but not enough to deter the story for me.

You get mild lovemaking within marriage, violence, humor at times, HEA and no cliffhanger. It's best to read the whole series, as to understand why the men are the way the are. Book 1 is still my favorite of the series. (ljb)

Aristide Brethren Origins Book 3 edition by Barbara Devlin Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Aristide is the third book in the series about former Templars who escape certain torture and death in France to find asylum in England. The King expects the men to marry chosen brides and work for the realm. Unlike the first two Templars who did not want to marry Aristide looks forward to do so. He meets Dionysia at a wedding feast and when he finds out she is Who he will marry his pleased. Unfortunately his views about sex came from a strict priest. So poor Aristide has a lot of angst about the subject. His bride has been physically and emotionally scarred by abuse she suffered from a neighbor. Aristide has to be one of the most gentle and kind Knights who ever lived. He tries to make her realize how special she is and the scar means nothing. He is a honey
Devlin knows how to write humor and their I'd definitely comic relief from the married couple trying to help the H/h. I loved the lead characters, as well as having the other couples so that we can catch up on their lives
I highly recommend this touching book. And a personal...I loved the Medieval words used in first 2 books
I have followed Barbara Devlin through out her series's. has finally made the corrections to the book and of course it was an excellent read as all Barbara's books are. The world of The Knights continues as Aristide's turn to find his love. He meets Dionsysia on two separate occasions and they seem to come together nicely. As all of the Knights wives are picked for them, Aristide is given a choice. He picks Dionsysia as his wife, But in their interactions she has always had a veil hiding her face only seeing her eyes. He wonders what the reason is.

Dionsysia hides from her past shames and she doesn't understand the interactions with Aristide but when it is revealed to her that they will be wed she is releaved. When her father wants to run she assures him that everything would be alright and that is who she would chose as her husband.

When the wedding approaches Aristide is in waiting to see the face of his bride as she fears when she has to tell her husband of her past. Will he walk away? Will he change his mind?

Come join the journey of Aristide and Dionsysia. You will definitely not be disappointed. If you love historical romance Barbara's Books are for you. The depth and detail she goes into shows the time and energy she puts into each book.
Another fantastic installment to the Brethren Origins series! In fact this is my favorite to date.

Ms. Devlin toned down the medieval verbiage and that resulted in smoother read.

Aristide and Dionysia's story is treat to read. There are laugh out loud moments and heartbreaking moments. While it is not a steamy read, there is enough steam to keep it interesting.

Dionysia bears a mark on her face which is a constant reminder of the shame she bears. She is thrilled to marry Aristide, as she never dreamed she would ever be given the chance to be a wife and mother, yet she is terrified of the rejection she expects once the truth of her shame is revealed.

Aristide knows he will have to marry and is happy that the bride the king has chosen for him is the exact woman he wants! Aristide is a good man and wants nothing more than to love his wife. He tries so hard to be a good husband and often asks his fellow knights for advice (hence, the laugh out loud moments). He is all you would expect from one of Ms. Devlin's Origin heroes.

I truly loved this book and am looking forward to Morgan's story - I hope his bride brings him to his knees and makes him suffer (LOL).

I would recommend reading this series in order, but you could read this as a stand alone title with no problems.
One word to describe my emotions Disappointed. The book I received from kindle was NOT about the third brethren Aristide. It was the story of one of their descendants. I was truly looking forward to reading how Aristide was going to navigate his vows and the orders of the kind to wed.

The book I actually received, in itself was enjoyable, I liked the characters and the characters from previous books were also involved. The male lead had issues from his past, horrors that he saw and was subjected to that left him feeling unworthy of love and unfortunately or fortunately for him the lady who loved him wasn't going to let him believe that and she did what she had to do to get her man. But because she had witnessed a murder, he felt compelled to protect her and due to constant proximity they were caught in a compromising situation and he had to do what needs to be done to safeguard her virtue. At the end of the day, all was well, the villain got his comeuppance and the hero and heroine sailed off into the sunset and lived happily ever after. ) A new story line was introduced at the end of the book.
